Our Story

A flicker of friendship has ignited a love which burns eternal

Chelsea and Judson met as most couples do, in the halls of the United States Senate, working tirelessly on behalf of the good people of North Dakota. Truly, Senator John Hoeven must have been playing match maker when he selected both Chelsea and Judson to intern for him in the summer of 2018.

Chelsea and Judson were immediately drawn to each other as both shared a fierce sense of individuality which bordered on black sheep. Chelsea arrived on the first day in a bright red suit and wielded a bright red confidence that more resembled Hillary Clinton than that of a fresh face young intern. Equally, Judson arrived with a determination to achieve big things during his summer in D.C.. He could not have known that his summer in D.C. would yield a best friend, a soulmate, and now his wife.

Chelsea and Judson completed their summer internship and promised to stay in touch, and then did not. Chelsea and Judson would have little to no communication over the next three years as each became preoccupied with accomplishing personal and professional aspirations. Chelsea set her sights on law school, and Judson returned to D.C. for a permanent position in the U.S. Senate.

It was not until Chelsea reached out to Judson to inform him that she would be visiting D.C. in a few months that they began to enjoy regular communications again. Over the next few months, Chelsea and Judson would reintroduce themselves to each other through regular phone calls and consistent texts.

By the time Chelsea arrived in D.C. the two's feelings for each other had very much pushed past friendship, although neither had told the other of their true motives. Because they could not express their undoubted love for each other right when Chelsea landed in D.C., They settled for a date.

Their first date would be a trip to the zoo. The zoo is a polarizing place where much can be learned about a potential partner. There is little hope for true love If one person hates that smell and is annoyed by the crowd, while the other cannot get over magnificence of a lounging lion. Thankfully both Chelsea and Judson had a wonderful time and agreed that there was much more depth to their relationship than just friendship.

Distance was still a very present obstacle to any sort of budding romance. Chelsea was in the middle of law school in Minnesota, and Judson had become rooted in D.C. On a whim, they agreed to travel to Cartagena Colombia. They figured if they could navigate South America together, they might one day be able to navigate diaper duty and Costco runs.

In Colombia, they fell in love.

Judson remembers returning to D.C. and telling his friends and coworkers, " She is the one, I will marry Chelsea Brandt." Chelsea too had become convinced. Despite what would be considered typical, Chelsea did not take a summer internship at a high-power law firm in North Dakota or Minnesota. Instead, she interned in D.C. and lived with Judson. That summer, like most things Chelsea and Judson do together, was fun and informative. it taught each of them that they enjoyed living together and could look past the small quirks each person inevitably brings to a long-term relationship.

Once Chelsea graduated from law school, the pair moved to Denver Colorado with their poodle puppy, Bernard. Moving to Denver was just another expression of their unapologetic desire to build a life exactly how they wanted. In Colorado, they enjoy hiking, doating over Bernard, and cooking for each other. They both still bond regularly over their love for reading and will often spend their evenings discussing the happenings of protagonist and plots.

Recently, Chelsea and Judson bought a house where they will build their family. The two will start their family on October 25, is Estes Park Colorado. There, they will be married and will finally affirm the magnetism that has always, and will forever, draw the two together.

Both Chelsea and Judson sincerely appreciate each of their friends and families for all that they have done to support their love story. It is with welcome and eager intent that they welcome you to their most special day.
